Pepper and I just started the Mix 100.9 20 Pounds in 20 Days, New Year's Weight Loss Challenge with Dr. Lemon's A New Me. We've decided to keep a diary on here for all of our Mixers who are joining the challenge with us, or for anyone thinking about doing it. We've never done anything like this and we want to share our experience with you guys.
For the first two days, you BINGE on as much food as possible. The reason is mostly to prep your body for the impending detox/calorie-cut, but it also had the mental effect of making me want to stop eating! I felt bloated and full and FAT. So when Day 3 (the first day of the new diet) rolled around, I was READY.
For my binge days I ate: DAY 1- (1) Bacon, egg & cheese bagel sandwich from My Favorite Muffin; Coffee with lots of half and half; (2) Chocolate, Peanutbutter Buckeyes; (1) 10 inch Philly Cheese Steak from Capriotti's; (1) 8oz Filet Minon; Garlic Mashed Potatoes; lots of veggies. DAY 2 - (1) Belgian Waffle; Poatoes; Bagel with butter; Bacon; Pork Sliders with a side salad with ranch; cookies; almonds.
Pepper and I went shopping yesterday and finished buying all of our essential vitamins, fruits, veggies, and proteins for the next week. Everything looks delicious. The interesting thing about me is that I LOVE healthy food; I eat it all the time. But, I also love "bad" food. It won't be hard for me to eat all of these deliciously healthy menu items - but my biggest challenge will be learning to say "no" to the other things I love, like chocolate, popcorn, chips, french fries, and pizza. MmmmMmmm, just typing that was difficult.
But I'm honestly excited and ready for A New Me. I've been studying nutrition throughout 2012, but I haven't been applying what I've learned. Like I said, I love healthy food, so it was easy for me last year to start adding things that I was learning about, like having more greens throughout the day. I even started drinking spinach/greek yogurt/berry shakes for breakfast. But what I wasn't able to accomplish in 2012 was removing the things that I know are essentially poison, like gluten, refined sugar, fast food, etc.
